Plans

Plans for a new solar farm have been approved following an appeal despite the Planning Inspectorate acknowledging they would cause harm to the countryside's character.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council turned down the application for the Carr Farm Solar Farm development in Beverley in December.

But the Planning Inspectorate has now approved the proposals for the farm, which will sit for 40 years on land to the south of Tickton and power around 15,000 homes annually.

A NEW 4,000-home development set to be built between York and Harrogate, has moved closer to fruition.
The plans, centred around Cattal railway station, was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for independent examination by North Yorkshire Council in April last year.

It includes proposals to create a sustainable new community where people have access to new homes, local services and facilities, open spaces, and direct public transport links to York, Harrogate and Leeds. A week-long planning inquiry took place at Harrogate Civic Centre in September last year.

“We need more housing across the whole of the county to meet demand and ensure people are given the option of choosing to live in the communities that they wish to.
